Makeup Revolution Amazing Lipstick in Rebel With Cause

First up is the Makeup Revolution Amazing Lipstick in Rebel With Cause. This is a bargainous £1 (yes, ONE BRITISH POUND), not that you'd know it! The internet tells me this is a good dupe for MAC Rebel - from the name, I'm guessing they knew exactly what they were doing...

First Impressions

The packaging reminds me of the NYX Round Lipsticks with the colour in the end of the tube. I don't know whether this is just my lipstick, but the cap is really loose and kept falling off.

Nicely pigmented, satin finish. The scent isn't overwhelming (unlike the NYX lipsticks which smell and taste remarkably like soap). In real life the lipstick is quite a bit darker than the photos would suggest, so perhaps not a summer shade, but a good purchase nonetheless (especially for a quid)! Quite slippery though, so I'd recommend blotting with loose powder to fix it.

The Verdict

7/10
For a quid, it's pretty damn good. Great colour payoff and not a bad price for a MAC dupe!

Makeup Revolution Amazing Care Lipstick in Love A Hug

I've never seen a product like this before, although I'm sure it exists elsewhere. Coming in at a slightly more expensive (ha!) £3, this is a lipstick formed of a solid core of colour surrounded by an Argan Oil exterior. It's meant to be more like a tinted lip balm than a lipstick.

First Impressions

It looks weird, but interesting weird.

Take me to your leader.
Unlike the Amazing Lipsticks there's no colour on the end of the tube but there is a little window in the top so you can see the colour (just about).

The back-of-hand swatch didn't come out for this one. It's not very pigmented, which is to be expected with all that oil diluting the colour payoff - in fact, on the website they recommend you apply it "more than once" to spread the colour more evenly. I had to run this over my lips a few times to get any noticeable colour. That said, it is nice and moisturising, and subtle enough that you could just wear it during the day instead of lip balm.

The Verdict

7/10

Good price, nice and subtle, good for everyday wear. If anything, it's a nice tinted Argan Oil lipbalm.

  1. hi, it's Hannah P here! I love these posts by the way, your application skills are incredible.

I have a sneaky question to ask related to the lip balm - what have you heard about the new (still hilariously named) chubby sticks? thought I might ask as you have your finger on the makeup-pulse x
